Use of FACE Risk Profile

Training in use of the Risk Profile includes the following:

  • Introduction to the Risk Profile - clinicians are taken through the basic principles underlying the design of the Risk Profile; the content is explained and time is permitted for discussion of implementation issues and general issues relating to risk assessment.

  • Training in FACE Triage Assessment - this ensures a basic understanding of the issues to be covered in Risk Assessment and is an essential preliminary to training in use of the Risk Profile.

  • Use of the Risk Profile

  • Rating of vignettes - users are asked to complete the Risk Profile on one of the standardised vignettes. The group then discusses their ratings and issues raised by divergences of rating or opinion or in completing the assessment.

We recommend that staff receive all the above components, including rating at least 2 full vignettes. Ideally, this should be spread over 2 sessions and may include homework (e.g. rating of a vignette).
